shows North & South Jutland; Diocese of Aaalborg & Wiborg, the
Dutchy of Sleswick & the islands of Falster, Laaland, Funen &
Zeeland locating Copenhagen. The Skager Rack or Cattegat is depicted off
the northeast coast & the Baltic Sea appears at the base of the map.
Includes many towns and harbors and small offshore islands. Title is on
a stone plinth in top right surrounded by grass & foliage. A very
attractive map. |

1758. 8½X12. Colored. Very attractive chart of the islands of Spitzbergen, shows the main island along with Isle Du Sud-Est (southeast
island) & Le Pais Du Nord-Est (land to the northeast, ) actually an
island. Depicts many small islands around the primary group and shows
channels, straits, capes and bays and suggested anchorages. Locates
mountains, regions of ice and underwater rocks surrounding land masses.
Includes very decorative title cartouche with leaf, scroll & flower
motifs in top left. This is a scarce chart of an arctic region. |

shows the Baltic Sea, the Gulfs of Bothnia & Finland bordered by Sweden
& Lapland, Finland, Livonia & Poland. Depicts harbors & coastal
topography in fine detail & locates St. Petersburg, Dantzig & the Gulf,
Christianstadt, Stockholm, Abo, Narva, Revel & Brandenburg. Includes
compass points & radiating rhumb lines & the title is in a decorative
oval with fine calligraphy. |

Paris. 1812. Colored. 11¾X8½. Very detailed map shows a large depiction
of Norway, Sweden, Finland & Denmark surrounded & bordered by the North
Sea, the Icy Sea, the Baltic and the Gulfs of Bothnia and Finland. Map
locates all major harbors, cities, & towns including Stockholdm, Oslo,
Copenhagen, Helsinki (Helsingford) & includes St. Petersbourg on the
Russian coast near Finland. Two small inset charts in upper left show 1.
Iceland and 2. The Faroe Islands. A decorative landscape scene in lower
right shows the title amongst pine trees on a rocky shoreline. An
attractive map drawn by Giraldon and engraved by J.

shows cities, towns & harbors in excellent detail. Locates offshore
islands, the Cattegut & the Canal of Jutland, the North Sea and the
Baltic Sea and includes, in lower right, a decorative harbor scene with
ships at anchor before a fort, with a church & buildings in the
background. Drawn by Giraldon & engraved by J.

Copenhagen (Kobenhavn) Road and Harbor.” Wash. D.C. 1915 (1939).
Colored. Blue/yellow. 3826½. Very handsome chart in excellent condition
of Copenhagen Harbor with street block plans, wharves, jetties,
principal public and commercal buildings. The Observatory, Botanical
Gardens, Electric Works, the Christiansborg Palace and Parks. The
Hydrographic Office, railroad tracks, yacht clubs and shipyards.
Offshore waters are dotted with depth soundings. This chart was based on
a Danish chart of 1927 and was re-issued at the beginning of World War
II for use by the U.S. Navy. Excellent detail. Chart # 4918.

1750-55. Colored. 19X22¼.Very handsome map shows the land contours of
Denmark & Sweden with the islands of Selande (Zealand) depicting
Copenhagen, Fionie (Funen) & Laland (Laaland.) Shows also South Jutland
with the Duchies of Schleswig & Holstein. The Baltic Sea flows through
the region and the Island of Bornholm is centered in offshore waters.
Cities, towns, harbors, bays and rivers are clearly delineated and the
title in top right is surrounded by a large ornamental cartouche with
scrolls, leaves, flowers and shells, in the French 18th century manner.

Best Authorities by J. Barber.” London. 1784. Colored. 13X14¼. Very
attractive map shows Sweden and it's capital of Stockholm, and Denmark's
capital of Copenhagen on the island of Zealand. Norways' western shore
is comprised of fjords and harbors. The country is administered by the
Gov't of Drontheim. The Baltic Sea is shown flowing through the region
from the Kattegat into the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Finland,
while Finland is shown bordering Russia and the White Sea. An inset map
in top left depicts Iceland with coastal topography and major harbors,
and the title is in a decorative cartouche with branches, leaves,
animals and the Midnight Sun. Engraved by John Barber (fl.c.1770-1800)
and published in William Guthrie's “Geographical Grammer...” 1784.

the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge.” London. 1853.
Colored. 15X12¼. Finely engraved and heavily detailed map shows Sweden
and it's capital of Stockholm on it's southeastern coast, & Norway with
it's rugged coastline comprised of fjords and harbors, with mountainous
terrain inland and large areas of forest intersected by rivers. Denmark
appears at base of map with the Kattegat seaway flowing into the Baltic
Sea, which in turn flows into the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of
Finland. The map includes some of the Russian Provinces, and the City of
St. Petersburg and it's surrounding regions is shown bordering Esthonia
and Livonia. This finely drawn map was published by Edward Stanton in
the “Family Atlas of the S. D. U. K.” The engravers were John and
Charles Walker. Excellent detail.

Venice 1561-62. Colored. 7½X9¾. Very early map of Livonia and Estonia
shows coastal contours on the Baltic Sea with a small section of the
Island of Gothland, actually the southern tip of Sweden mistaken for an
island. Locates major towns, rivers and forests and includes offshore
islands, bays and harbors. This attractive little map was attributed to
Claudius Ptolemy (fl.AD127-180) and published by Giralomo Ruscelli (c.
1504-1560) in “La Geographia Di Claudio Tolomeo.”

Colored. 12½X9. Fine 18th century map by Rigobert Bonne, Royal
Hydrographer to the King in Paris, shows Norway, Sweden, Finland &
Denmark with the seaway later called Kattegat, flowing into the Baltic
Sea which in turn flows into the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of
Finland. Includes Livonia and Lithuania, Pomerania and Prusse, and all
major cities, towns and harbors. Depicts Stockholm on Sweden's southeast
coast, Copenhagen on Denmark's Seland Island and Oslo (Christiana) on
Norway's Christiana Fjord. On the far right of the map at the eastern
end of the Gulf of Finland is St. Petersburg, Russia. From “Atlas
Portatifa L'Usage des Colleges” by L'Abbe Grenet. 1782. Excellent
detail.

Observations Astronomiques par le Sr. Janvier, Geographe.” Venice. 1779.
Colored. 18X25. Very handsome map of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, &
Livonia with a section of Poland and Prussia. Includes a good depiction
of the Baltic Sea & its shorelines, flowing to the Gulf of Bothnia and
the Gulf of Finland where St.Petersburg, Russia is shown on the eastern
end of the Gulf. Norway's coast is drawn with fjords and harbors,
and inland are mountains and forests. Sweden appears heavily
settled along coastlines, while Denmark is surrounded by the North Sea
on one side and the seaway, later known as the Kattegat, on the eastern
shore. The detail of cities, towns, harbors, rivers, forests and
mountains is excellent and in top left is a large inset chart of Iceland
with both topographical and hydrographical detail.
The inset is titled “L'Islande divisee en ses 4 parties
peincipales par le Sieur Robert de Vaugondy.” A very decorative title
cartouche is depicted in lower right with scrolls, leaves and shell
motifs. This beautiful map was engraved by Jean Denis Janvier and
published by Francesco Santini in Venice in c.1779.

J. THOMSON “Chart of the North
and Baltic Seas, Etc.” Edinburgh. 1816. Colored. 19X23¾. Fine chart
shows the North Sea flowing into the Kattegat around Denmark and into
the Baltic Sea, which flows into the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of
Finland. Hundreds of depth soundings are drawn in the seas and the chart
includes both topographical and hydrographical details. At the top of
the chart are 3 insets. 1. Harbor of Heligoland, 2. Port of Revel, and
3. Harbor of St. Petersburg. All insets show harbor contours, depth
soundings, shoals, beacons and lighthouses. This is a fine composite
chart published in Thomson's “New General Atlas” in Edinburgh 1816 and
engraved by master engraver Samuel John Neele (1758-1824.)
