MITCHELL “Plan of Philadelphia.” Phila.1866. Colored. 11X13. Colorful map shows street block plan and the
waterfront on the Delaware River with wharves. ferry slips and dry dock
across from Camden. Includes Windmill or Smith's Island, sand bars &
steamboat routes to places on the Delaware River above Philadelphia.
Decorative border frame makes this a very attractive city plan. |

Map of Pennsylvania.” Phila. 1887. Colored.
14½X22¼. Intensely detailed map shows counties, cities, towns,
railroads, roads & rivers. A small section of Lake Erie appears in top
left and the Maryland border is drawn at base of map. On the verso
(back) is a fine map titled “County Map of the
State of New Jersey” as well as four detailed
inset maps 1. Harrisburg, 2.Williamsport, 3. Erie, and 4. Scranton.
Colorful and attractive. |

Colored. 15½X12½. Colorful map of the City shows street block plans and
the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. Depicts public and commercial
buildings, railroads crossing the City, and the Navy Yard. Locates Smith
and Windmill Islands in the Delaware River just offshore and the map
includes a decorative border frame. An attractive map. |

- J. KEARNEY “Survey of the Allegheny River From Franklin to Pittsburgh
Levelled & Surveyed under the Direction of Lieut. Col. Kearney, United
States Topographical Engineers. 1828.”
Wash. D.C. 1838. B/W. 2 sheets. Sheet 1. 7½X31½. Sheet 2. 7½X37½. These
two intensely detailed charts of the Allegheny River from Franklin to
Pittsburgh, were surveyed and drawn by members of the U.S.T.E. in the
early 19th century. Along the river are notes on shoreline vegetation,
cultivated areas, areas of sand & shale, commercial buildings, falls,
and creeks. Accompanying the charts is a 36pp Senate Document booklet
titled “Survey of the Allegany River. Letter from the Secretary of War
Submitting a Report and Drawings of the Survey of the Allegany River.
March 22, 1838.” Two excellent charts plus informative booklet. |

- J. BIEN “Map of the Battle Field of Gettysburg with Position of
Troops. July 2nd, 1863.” Colored. 1891.
16½X27. Large chart shows block plan of the Town of Gettysburg with
connecting roads & railroads. Depicts outlying villages, rivers & creeks
& position of troops & Federal Cavalry. Includes an inset chart titled
“Sketch of the Battle of Gettysburg. July 1st. 2nd & 3rd 1863 to
Accompany Report of Gen. R. S. Ewell. Commanding 2nd Corps. ANV. by Jed
Hotchkiss. Top. Engrs. 2nd Corps.” The chart with insets was published
by Julius Bien (1826-1909) a well known lithographer, for the “Atlas to
Accompany the Official Records of the Union & Confederate Armies
1861-1865.” A fine map in very good condition. |
