Full size reproduction of Des Barres Two sheet chart of the coast from Newbury Harbour and Salisbury Point to Portsmouth, N. H. and the Piscataqua River to the York River, Maine, Wells Bay, Black Point Bay, Richmond Is. and Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Locates harbors, inlets, rivers, elevations. Dots along roads inland indicate dwellings and buildings. Large compass rose on Sheet #2 has decorative fleur de lys indicating both true and magnetic north. (Excellent condition of a reproduction long out of print.)

Finely drawn map by Samuel Lewis and engraved by David Fairman shows the state of Vermont from Lake Champlain in New York State over to the Connecticut River on the New Hampshire border. Depicts towns and villages in excellent detail, showing Rutland and Windsor as the primary cities in the early 19th century and locates county boundaries, rivers and the Green Mountain range. A few roads are shown connecting towns drawn with fine lines. A very nice map.

NH-VT115 - J. H. COLTON “Vermont” NY 1855. Colored. 14½X12. Fine map of the State shows counties in different colors & locates all major cities, towns & villages. Depicts Lake George & Lake Champlain on Vermont's western boundary, and the Connecticut River forming the eastern boundary with New Hampshire. The Green Mountain range is shown traversing the State from north to south and railroads, roads & canals are indicated with fine lines connecting towns. A fine map of the State.

NH-VT117 - S. LEWIS “The State of New Hampshire by Samuel Lewis.” Phila. 1796. Colored. 7½X6. Attractive small map of New Hampshire shows cities, towns and harbors, lakes, rivers and mountains. Locates the Connecticut River dividing the State from Vermont, and the White Mountains are drawn in the northern regions of the State where they can be seen from the seacoast as white hills rising above the horizon. Includes the Massachusetts border showing the Merrimack River flowing out to sea at Newburyport and Plum Island. From Mathew Carey's “American Pocket Atlas” published in Philadelphia in 1796.

Depicts Counties in different colors & locates all major cities, towns and harbors, rivers and mountain ranges. Includes a list of 12 railroads featured on the map. A fine map with excellent detail and good color.

NH-VT121 - RAND McNALLY “New Hampshire.” Chicago 1899. Colored. 12½X10. This very detailed map shows New Hampshire bordered by Vermont and Maine & locates all major cities, towns and harbors. Depicts the White Mountains, lakes & rivers and includes a listing down right side of the principal cities and towns and their population figures. Rand McNally was a prominent mapmaker in Chicago in the late 19th century and this map was published in their “World Atlas & Gazetteer.” (On the back (verso) is a fine map of New Jersey.)

JEFFERYS “A Map of the Most Inhabited Part of New England, Containing the Provinces of Massachusetts Bay and New Hampshire with the Colonies of Konekticut and Rhode Island divided into Counties and Townships. The Whole Composed from Actual Surveys and it's Situation Adjusted by Astronomical Observations. November 29, 1755. Published According to Act by Thos. Jefferys, Geographer to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales near Charing Cross” London. 1755/1763. Colored. 20½X19¼..This fine map engraved on handmade rag paper, is the top left sheet of a four part map covering the regions outlined in the title above. It includes the border with New York State in the vicinity of Crown Point and Fort Frederic on Lake Champlain, and Lake George down to Fort William Henry and Saratoga. Many place names for both Vermont and New Hampshire are shown on both sides of the Connecticut River from Brattleboro & Fort Dummer to Westminster, Townsend, Reading, Woodstock and Shelburne in Vermont; and from Petersburg in New Hampshire north to Cornish, Enfield, Dorchester, Bath, Franconia and Lyman. In the top left corner of the map is a “Plan of the Town of Boston.” The plan shows street block plans and includes a detailed reference table listing the number of fires (10) that had damaged the town in the years - 1653--1760. Also includes references to the Meeting House, Governor's House, Town Hall, Faneuil Hall, the North & South Meeting House, and Trinity Church. The lettering and design of the map is very well delineated. It was drawn by Bradock Mead c.1685-1757, who used the pseudonym John Green, an Irish translator & geographer who worked for many of the foremost map makers in 18th century London.(Ref. “New England in Early Printed Maps.” Compiled by Barbara McCorkle. #755-19. and Tooley's “Dictionary of Mapmakers” Vol.3. Page 229.)

NH-VT123 - G. WALKER “Lake Winnipesaukee. New Hampshire.” Boston. 1914. Colored. `6½X27½. Spectacular birds-eye view on a folding map, of Lake Winnipesaukee with snow-capped Mount Washington in the background, depicts the route of the Steamer Mount Washington & locates islands in the Lake, with roads, fields, farms, & houses around it. Includes a listing of all the White Mountains that surround the Lake, & beyond. The map is folded into a very detailed brochure put out by the Boston & Maine Railroad that includes both photos and text describing the Lake & its amenities & pleasures for the visiting tourist. The map was printed by George Walker & Son, and bears their copyright from 1903 and 1909 after which the view was used by the Railroad as a spectacular promotional piece in 1914.

Intensely detailed chart of Portsmouth showing Gerrishes Island at the entrance to the Harbor, & the Navy Yard, Seavys Island, Kittery & a street block plan of Portsmouth itself with wharves on the Piscataqua River. Depicts Newcastle Island & the Westworth Hotel, Cutts Island, Pepperell Cove & anchorages & locates hundreds of depth soundings, buoys, lights, rocks & other dangers throughout the area. Includes courses & sailing lines as an aid to mariners approaching Portsmouth from offshore. This is an excellent chart published by George Eldridge in his “Book of Harbor Charts. Boston to Bar Harbor. No. 56.” Condition. Very good.

NH-VT125 - THE BULLARD CO. “A Survey of the White Mountains.” Boston. 1914. B/W. 33X26. This great map of the White Mountain region in New Hampshire depicts all the mountains with their heights & positions & locates the towns, railroads, roads, rivers & ponds that make this portion of the State such a fine historical & tourist attraction. Depicts Crawford Notch & Franconia Notch & hundreds of mountains in the area, all named in a listing at top of the map. Engraved by W. J. Dobinson, the map was folded to go into a pocket, but is now pressed flat & in good condition. This is an attractive item for hiking, driving sightseeing & locating special sights in a wonderful region of the State.

NH-VT126 - H. F. WALLING “Untitled. Rochingham County, New Hampshire.” NY1877. Colored. 15X21.Very colorful County map shows Portsmouth and the entrance to it's harbor at Gerrish Island & Kittery depicts the coast down to Great & Little Boars' Heads & the entrance to the Merrimack River & Newburyport Lights. Locates all major cities, towns, & villages with their Post Offices, & all the roads & railroads crossing the County. Includes small rivers, ponds, hills, & the Piscataqua River in Maine flowing down to Portsmouth dividing Maine from New Hampshire. Offshore the map includes the Isles of Shoals & to the westward includes Merrimack, Litchfield, Manchester & Concord & Pembroke. This fine map was produced under the direction of Henry Francis Walling (1825-1888), a professor of mathematics & a surveyor, & published by Comstock & Cline in their “Atlas of the State of New Hampshire.” in New York. 1877. On the back are two excellent maps of 1.) Portsmouth & 2.) Dover, Stratford County.
